Lines of Flight. An Investigation of the Value of Invisible Performances and their social Context

Lines of Flight. An Investigation of the Value of Invisible Performances and their Social Context

The research uses the practice of "invisible performances": performances that the audience mostly doesn't even register as such, because they rely on gestures that we employ in our everyday routines. The performances always reference ideas that are regarded as pejorative (failure, laziness or slowness), and are a means of opening up the way we experience hierarchically structured spaces and concepts. The documentation of the performances is also integral to the research, being at once part of the performances, and a way to further explore them. Aiming to capture their fluidity and spontaneity, it rejects classical means of recording and presentation (i.e., photographic image and prose). It is based on recollection, and is essentially geared towards the proliferation of meaning, not towards the production of any tangible proof of the performances. All of this centres around the audience (which varies in size, and is not always aware of its participation).
