Geophysical surveys and interpretation geotechnical soil investigation outside Zeebrugge harbor sediment and landfill sites S1 under Flemish bays

in a first dee mission is twofold and includes! carrying out seismic measurements as a function of the detailed mapping of the lithology and stratigraphy of the Quaternary, Neogeen and the top of the paleogene at the height of the outer side of the port of Zeebrugge. In this warden specific techniques and methods employed that result in an image of the layer structure, as far as possible, oak in the zones with natural gas, previously considered to be areas with seismic zero penetration. In addition, the layer structure of the current and former landfill site 51 is mapped by means of seismics. The measurement results processing and its report is included in this phase. Based on the results of the seismic campaign t.h.v. Zeebrugge and 51 made a proposal of geotechnical investigation for both sites. The second part includes the execution of geological paleo and landscape research at the height of the port of Zeebrugge and 51 where the results of a phase warden supplemented with results of geotechnical research (drilling, probing, and research operations on the in situ soil samples). The execution of the drilling and probing does not dee! ult of this contract. The objective of this second part is to Zeebrugge on the one hand the realization of a detailed geological digital surface model of the area outside the port of Zeebrugge within the boundaries of the Flemish Bays project t.h.v. Zeebrugge. This knowledge and experience in the interpretation of the geology of the BCS essential in order to correctly assess all research data and link the results of research operations outside the area under consideration. On the other hand the second seeks dee! obtaining significantly improved understanding of the paleo landscape structure and its evolution at the outside of the port of Zeebrugge. It is checked whether potential archeological elements are present. It is for Zeebrugge drawn a Voxel-model 1 of the substrate in which all the geotechnical and chemical characteristics obtained were compiled from analysis of the cores from the geotechnical survey warden in three-dimensional ru imtelijke units (volume cells) with a horizontal resolution of mlnimaal 100 mx 100 m (if possible SO SO x m) and a vertical resolution of 0.5 m. This model makes it possible to query the various geotechnical characteristics and identify zones with gel ijke properties and quantified. za l Also, obtain a spatial image values U+200BU+200Bfrom the environmental quality (on the basis of the chemical grade) as a function of the BMM sediment quality criteria for the dumping of the dredged material in the North Sea. For the site 51 is drawn a digital model of the site based on the results of geotechnical studies, supported by the grain size distribution of the material (DSO). This model makes it possible to determine volumes of sediment DSO with similar characteristics. Based on these data can decide warden or warden used material for reuse as raw material for the realization of eg. Islands off the Belgian coast.
