Dealing with multiple mediators in causal mediation analysis

Limitations of methods for causal mediation analysis are so severe that they prohibit realistic applications with multiple mediators. To overcome this, we will propose new conceptual definitions of interventional direct and indirect effects, along with estimation procedures. These effects are informative about interventions, require fewer assumptions than current notions of causal effects and can be identified in multiple mediator settings.
