Validation of a new testprotocol for outside laboratory evaluation of kinematical parameters of the limb

A new developed test protocol using inertial measurement units to appraise kinematical parameters (joint angles, angular velocity and angular acceleration) of the lower limb must be validated using an opto-electronic system which is still considered as the golden standard. Next, this protocol will be implemented into the evaluation of kinematical parameters of knee arthroplasty patients during the rehabilitation. At first, it will be used to evaluate kinematical variables during hospital stay (2-3 days postoperative), at second it will be used to test the kinematical variables in a more challenging test condition (e.g. an obstacle course or an outside bike ride) at the end of the rehabilitation phase.
