Strong performance on a global market and market power and the allocation of resources

In this research proposal I describe the two main research programs on which I will focus over the next five years (2015−2020). The two topics are sufficiently distinct and therefore I will describe them separately. Both topics, however, draw substantially on some of my earlier work. In particular some of the methodological contributions to the estimation of production functions and markups have opened a set of new research avenues; including the two research projects contained in this proposal: 1) Firm performance in a global market and 2) Market power and the allocation of resources.
