Project

Multi-scale computer-aided engineering in metal forming industries

The goal of this project is the industrial valorisation of an integrated computational materials engineering approach developed at KU Leuven. This material modelling technology crosses different length scales, thus enabling physics-based and accurate predictions of instantaneous plastic properties, as well as the evolution of these properties with ongoing plastic deformation. This is of high importance for the computer-aided engineering of metallic products and processes. Industrial case studies are elaborated for a broad range of industries: producers of metallic half-fabricates, metal forming companies including automotive, and engineering consultancy companies that provide services to the metal industry.
