Project

Tandem Mass Spectrometer for ultrasensitive and precise quantification of organic contaminants in environmental samples

This project concerns the purchase of a liquid chromatography mass spectrometer as an extension of an already available UHPLC-UV/VIS apparatus in order to upgrade the UHPLC for the direct ultrasensitive and precise analysis of pesticides and other organic compounds at μg/L-ng/L level, i.e., the actual concentrations found in surface waters and ground waters and hence concentrations that are environmental relevant. The equipment is crucial for and will be used by the involved research groups in their research regarding the microbial degradation of pesticides and other organic pollutants and the ecological and evolutionary effects of low environmental relevant doses of pesticides and their residues to aquatic invertebrates and other organisms, as well as for education purposes.
