Project

Looks don’t matter, it’s what you do that counts*: Deployment of innovative bio-assays for screening and elucidation of the mechanism of action of new psychoactive substances

New psychoactive drugs (NPS) continously appear on the worldwide drug market. Several NPS classes -amongst which synthetic cannabinoids and synthetic opioids- act via G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs). This project aims at developing high-throughput screening bio-assays focusing on activity of the NPS, rather than their chemical structure. Improved knowledge on the GPCR signaling mechanisms will be implemented to ameliorate these bioassays.
