Project

Generation And Measurement of Broadband Analog Signals

Advances in nanotechnology has enabled integrated electronic circuits or 'chips' that operate at very high frequencies. This leads to new applications in communications, imaging and ranging that make use of the high frequency and bandwidth. Research on the design of these chips requires validation of these techniques, which in turn requires to measure the fabricated chips. As such, a measurement infrastructure is needed that can both generate and analyze broadband electronic signals. This is exactly to focus of this GAMBAS proposal. The requested infrastructure will play an important role in our ongoing research projects on chip design for high datarate communications and accurate imaging and ranging. Furthermore, it will also enable several planned research projects of the KU Leuven ESAT-MICAS research group in the near future.
