Modulation of bacterial adherence in infective endocarditis: impact of bacterial surface molecules and underlying tissues used in right ventricular outflow tract revalvulation.

In terms of therapeutic application, we aim to understand the mechanisms which activate modulation by the extracellular matrix. The emphasis will be on flow-controlled processes, implicating shear stress in tissue-bacterial cross-talk. As a spin-off, we will use various tissues used in right ventricular outflow tract revalvulation to maximally suppress bacteria triggered cell activation, bacterial adhesion and vegetation formation at the infected endovascular site.
