An Iconic-Liturgical Perspective on the Experience of Nature:Assessment of it s Hermeneutical and Motivational-Ethical Potential

In this research project, a comprehensive study of the iconic-liturgical perspective on nature will be made, moving beyond the merely theological to a broader phenomenological approach of nature experience. The hermeneutical potential of this approach will be studied by comparing it to the lived experience of those strongly committed to nature. Given the immanent/transcendent tension, operative within the iconic-liturgical, William Desmond’s metaxological thought, centred upon the metaxù (between) as mediating, seems particularly apt at elucidating and articulating this perspective on nature.
