Project

Development of functional textile for the decontamination of indoor air (TEXACOV)

The TEXACOV project consists in functionalizing the textile with materials allowing the photocatalytic degradation in the Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) of the indoor air, ideally in H2O and CO2 and without additional external energy input. The proposed solution for air pollution control will therefore contribute to the continuous improvement of indoor air quality. The objectives of the project can be summarized as follows:

  • Manufacturing of photoactive nanoparticles in the visible domain (TiO2-doped)
  • Integration of photoactive nanoparticles into cellulose nanofibers
  • Assembly of nanofillers prepared on textile substrates
  • Development of protocols for monitoring the performance of materials (at pilot scale)
