Lifespan modulation by support cells in ageing C. elegans

As medical technology improves, the global life expectancy continues to rise. A better understanding of ageing is vital if we wish to deal with its associated problems. This project will investigate the role of support cells in the ageing process. This insight will lead to a better mechanistic understanding of ageing in Caenorhabditis elegans, an important model for ageing in humans. Knowledge of the underlying pathways will also improve the search for drugs that contribute to healthy ageing in humans.
