Project

FWO travel grant for a short stay at the Washington and Lee University at Lexington (R-8323)

During this research stay I will collaborate with professor Grajzl and his research group on a project concerning discrimination within the judiciary. We utilize an original data set that I have compiled for this purpose. We analyze if and to what extent defendants with a foreign background are sentenced more severely in the Belgian criminal justice system. During this stay we will also set up a contingent valuation survey, which should enable judges to rank different types of sentences.
