Theresa Pattery

  • Research Expertise:
    • Phenazine biosynthesis genes in Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Dr. Pattery has identified new genes for the biosynthesis of the pyocianine phenazine, a redox-active compound, in P. aeruginosa. Together with Prof. Monica Höfte in Gent, we found that pyocianine, but not its precursors, is able to induce resistance in plants against phytopathogenic fungi. Dr. Pattery is also studying the regulation of phenazine production in P. aeruginosa, since it is an important virulence factor.
