Ward Leloup

  • Research Expertise  (Vrije Universiteit Brussel):

    Ward Leloup (1991) is a teaching assistant in History and a junior researcher at the research group HOST.  Within the overarching field of medieval urban history, his research interest is in the social, economic and spatial history of Flemish and Brabantine towns during the late medieval period. His current PhD research (VUB & Ghent University) investigates social relations between leatherworkers in Bruges and Mechelen between the fourteenth and sixteenth century, and how these relations reflected in urban space through the locational choices of these craftsmen. Previously he has investigated the spatial and historical evolutions of Bruges' outports along the medieval Zwin within the context of an interdisciplinary research project at Ghent University.
