Janna Aerts

    Janna Aerts studied Linguistics and Literary Studies: Dutch and English at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) and spent one semester at University College London in 2014. She completed her PhD in Dutch Literature at VUB in 2019, working on a project of the Research Foundation Flanders (FWO) titled ‘Daily life and crisis in literary journals. A multiperspective reading of diaries written during the Second World War.’ Her research focuses on the interaction of daily life and authorship during the Second World War as described in the occupation diaries of Flemish authors such as August Vermeylen, Ernest Claes and Jan Walravens. At present, she teaches Dutch literature, culture and history of the Low Countries and Research Methodology at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel and Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB).
