Anthony Antoine

    Anthony Antoine (°December 1969) holds a degree in Political Science (Licentiaat Politieke Wetenschappen, 1994, summa cum laude) and studied as Erasmus student at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel, the University of Central Lancashire (Preston, UK) and the Université Libre de Bruxelles (Centre d’Etudes en Relations Internationales et Stratégiques). He also obtained a Management Certificate from the Solvay Brussels Business School (ULB). As researcher, he was linked to the Centre for Peace and Security Studies of the VUB’s Politics Department. Between 1996 and 2002, Anthony worked for the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO - Information and Press), responsible for electronic communication. He also worked as consultant for various other international organisations (NATO-PA, OHR, SCSP, OSCD, …). Inbetween, he worked on a project creating educational modules over the Internet on weapons non-proliferation, and this together with VUB, the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) and the Eidgenossische Technische Hogschüle Zürich (ETHZ) and functioned as project director of the Euro-Atlantic Foundation. Since 2002, Anthony is full-time Executive Director of the Institute for European Studies. Between 2016 and 2017 he was also ad-interim director of the United Nations University institute on Comparative Regional Integration Studies (UNU-CRIS), where he currently is still special adviser to the Director. Since the creation of the Brussels School of Governance, the alliance between the IES and Vesalius College, he is also Executive Director of the latter.
