The research unit SOBA is conducting research that is aimed at describing, explaining, intervening and predicting the actions of individuals and groups in relation to policy and guidance related aspects as well as the functioning of structures in the leisure sector in general and the sport sector in particular. Research topics: - Voluntaries in sport; - Quality in sport; - Functions and meanings of sport; - Sport as a means (integration, social renewal, ...); - Experiences of youngsters in sport and in movement education at schools; - Social developments and their influence on sport, recreation and tourism; - Sport policy plans; - Co-instruction in physical education; - Globalisation in sport; - Sport and tourism; - Socialisation; - Combination of elite sport and study; - The role of parents in competitive youth sport.
