Project

The Human-Interface Multicamera Acquisition for Story-telling & QUalitatively Enhanced Reality in Ambient 3D Environments (R-1780)

Hi-Masquerade aims at demonstrating a real-time, authentic/immersive remote and as natural as possible human interaction experience, using technology similar to what has been utilized by Tom Cruise in the Hollywood block-buster "Minority Report" (2002), i.e. using a multi-touch 2D screen and 3D gesture recognition, but with some not so minor distinctive enhancements: - we would not require the participant to wear gloves - we aim at manipulating 3D data aside 2D - we intend to integrate real- and virtual world data in the scenes to be manipulated - we would not oblige participants to stand and wave their arms in the air continuously to support interaction - we aim at a collaborative set-up - we aim at demonstrating it in a proof-of-concept (and not faking it, as was done in the movie)
