Project

Photography beyond the still image (Photography and Kinetography) (R-1405)

This project will focus on the design of a digital line strip camera capture and display system. The capture unit shall be sufficiently rugged and light-weight to be worn by a performing dancer. Wireless communication with the display system allows captured imagery to be projected in real time during the performance. Other applications also require a mobile set-up, but aim at hard-disc recording and off-line processing in the first place. The technological research and development will be carried out by a junior researcher at the Expertise Center for Digital Media in Diepenbeek, under supervision of Philippe Bekaert. By starting from the large software base for multi-camera video applications at EDM, results can be obtained in a relatively short time period. EDM┌s interests in this research lay in other potential applications of line scan carneras in the field of stereoscopic and 3D capture and image based rendering.
