Employee performance management systems and their implementation by research leaders in higher education institutions

As higher education institutions adopt employee performance management systems to increase their efficiency and effectiveness, new challenges arise for the management and employees of those institutions. First, employee performance management systems are implemented differently throughout the organisation, due to differences in skills, willingness and time among responsible line managers. Second, employees seem dissatisfied with the introduction of these HRM systems. This study examines (1) how research leadersU+2019 ability, motivation and opportunity to implement employee performance management systems affect the U+201CstrengthU+201D of such systems and (2) how this U+201CstrengthU+201D affects employeesU+2019 satisfaction with the employee performance management system.
