Project

Molecular and functional control of eating and sleeping behavior in insects.

Feeding and sleeeping disorders are interconnected. The orexin pathway refers to this interplay. Thanks to genome wide sequencing an ortholog of the orexin receptor (2 in Tribolium; 1 in Apis) is found. The full lenght receptor DNA will be cloned, expressed and deorphanized.
