Methods of Translation in Late Medieval and Neo-Latin Medical Texts. A Comparative Study based on the Aristotle's Problemata

This project aims at a comparative study of the medieval and neolatin translations of the first section of Aristotle's Problemata, viz. Bartholomew of Messina's medieval translation (ca. 1260) and the humanistic translations by Georgius Trapezuntius (1452) and Theodorus Gaza (1454). The comparison of their translation methods and the analysis of the medical vocabulary they use is a contribution to both the history of translation as Latin lexicography and lexicology.
