Economic and Financial databases for top quantitative research in finance, business and economics.

Economics and business schools can only excel in quantitative data research when excellent databases are available to the researchers. The requested infrastructure consists of a number of such top-level financial and economic databases, as well as a user-friendly state-of-the art platform to access these data. This implies a very significant expansion and upgrade of the databases currently available to the researchers and research groups that support this application. As the acquisition would be a first in Belgium, it signals an important catching-up with neighboring countries, where these databases are available in several institutions. The project group covers all disciplines within the Faculty of Business and Economics at KULeuven, as well as the Lessius University College and the Hogeschool-Universiteit Brussel. The Vlerick Leuven Gent Management School supports the application as a third party user. All parties involved share the concern for excellent economic and financial research, and have successfully collaborated on several occasions - and will continue to do so. Therefore they feel the need for high-end financial and economic databases.
