Strengthening monitoring and evaluation in development projects that deal with complex social contexts.

There is a growing recognition internationally that traditional monitoring and evaluation (M&E) systems such as the logical framework are not always adequate for development programmes that work in complex social contexts. This process seeks to explore the effectiveness of outcome mapping as a complementary complexity oriented planning, monitoring and evaluation system. More and more organizations are experimenting with this new methodology worldwide. Through a detailed survey of latest literature, policy and practice related to innovative M&E methods, an online discussion forum and international workshop, this process seeks to extract practical lessons that can inform future M&E policy and practice.
