The essential modeling challenges towards an optimized electricity generation system in a CO2-constrained society.

The research project studies the pictorial roots of the hermits’ representations in earlier Eastern and Western art, their textual sources and the interplay with their cultural context in the years 1250 to 1550 along four axes: (a) the hermits’ solitude between contemplation, vision and temptation, (b) hermits’ relationship to nature, culture and society, (c) hermitic life and the ideal of poverty and self-limitation, and (d) solitude and social isolation, guilt and expiation.
