Ine Goovaerts

  • Research Expertise  (University of Antwerp):Ine Goovaerts is a post-doctoral researcher in the M²P research group at the University of Antwerp. The research fields and topics Ine is interested in and conducts research on include political polarization, political communication, populism, deliberative democracy, the mass media, and legitimacy perceptions. In her post-doc, Ine conducts research on and co-coordinates the EOS project NOTLIKEUS that studies polarization and perceptions of differentness among citizens and towards politicians. Ine obtained her PhD at KU Leuven, in which she studied the evolution and determinants of the quality of political debate, and its effects on citizens’ legitimacy perceptions. She particularly focused on two aspects of political debate quality, namely political incivility and argumentation quality.
