Joint experimental and theoretical study of chiral molecules self-assemblies upon functionalized surfaces

Working on the CHISUB project, Chiral Symmetry Breaking from Surface to Bulk, my starting goals are to provide, with the help of simulations based on DFT and molecular dynamics, theoretical explanations and interpretations to the experiments carried on in Leuven. These experiments are Scanning Tunneling Microscopy images of self-assemblies of chiral or achiral molecules in which we are trying to induce a chiral symmetry breaking with the help of magnetization or specific solution.
