Recognition Of Serious Infections in the Elderly (ROSIE)

Serious infections are common in older adults presenting to primary care, but difficult to diagnose.  These infections may be fatal or may have a major impact on an older adult's functional status.  Timely diagnosis of such an infection could optimise prognosis, but there is little evidence from primary care to underpin decision making.  Our aim is to develop a clinical prediction rule using clinical features and biomarkers to help primary care doctors to diagnose serious infections in older adults.
