Quality development in part-time arts education: development of substantiated supporting instruments (DEELTIJDS KUNSTOND)

Quality in arts education. Research into educational quality in part-time art education

The aim of this study is to gain a clear understanding of the ways in which academies are currently shaping their quality development and quality assurance. The first challenge is therefore to gain a good insight into the existing quality instruments that are already in circulation and the processes that are already taking place in part-time art education. We then examine how the existing Framework for Educational Quality (FQE) can be put into practice in the context of part-time arts education. We take the FQE as a starting point and we look for ways in which it can be translated and brought closer to the practice of academies and teachers. We also examine which appropriate, supportive and immediately usable tools and model trajectories can facilitate quality development at art academies. This requires a participatory and co-creative process, working closely with different types of stakeholders.

The study consists of a literature review, interviews and an extensive design study with stakeholders in part-time arts education in Flanders.
