The MIDI Research Group focuses on the study of language and interaction as a social and/or conceptual practice as it can be observed in different interpersonal settings involving, for instance, spontaneous workplace, mundane and other social interactions, as well as research interviews and experimentally controlled face-to-face conversations.

The research of our group focuses on nonequilibrium statistical physics. We deal mostly with a theoretical foundation for this theory, but also make the connection with applications in physics, biology and nano-technology. The research team investigates mathematical structures that are important in several basic areas of mathematics like geometry, representation theory, functional analysis, differential calculus or theory of approximation.
